MetaIgual – ‘Programme to educate in empathy, equality and critical thinking in digital environments’, which began in 2022 and whose initial objective was to prepare materials that would allow us to work on the prevention and eradication of gender violence, acting especially in digital environments and with young people from 12 to 18 years of age (which is where the association has greater knowledge and access in our non-formal education activity) allowing, in these two years of implementation, to carry out activities where sexist video games and sexual violence in the social networks that have the video games themselves have been reported.
Work has also been done on sexual harassment in the virtual world and in the new metaverse.

The main and overarching objectives of this MetaIgual Programme are to:
• Create an educational material focused on knowledge, awareness and sensitisation of adolescents on gender equality and gender-based violence.
•Promote empathy, equality and critical thinking among young people.
• Raise young people’s awareness of the correct use of digital media in their social and couple relationships.
•Prevent gender-based violence in general, but especially in the digital environment, through education on technical and intrapersonal strategies and resources.
• Highlighting the role of those who are passive subjects to create empathy with victims.

Here are five videos of no less than 3 minutes each, using the technique of videoscribing, where a hand draws the content on a whiteboard in an accelerated manner, promoted on social networks to raise awareness, inciting young people to reflect.

We also show you five infographics with information for young people on how to prevent, detect,
report any situation of harassment and violence in the virtual world.


 

Although our main target audience is young people, the materials produced can also be used by everyone, as it is not only young people who are highlighting and perpetuating gender stereotypes on the Internet and social networks. However, it is more young people who are the biggest consumers of the virtual world and need information, education and awareness raising.
