Training for internationalisation of Blue Beehive

2021-1-ES01-KA122-ADU-000018318

The association has the need to grow internationally, gain knowledge, and explore new horizons.

Although there is a multidisciplinary team, it is necessary to grow in knowledge regarding the management of courses for adults. It is intended that the trainers of the association improve their communication skills and can better attend to the performance of their function. The internationalization of the association is foreseen in the statutes of Blue Beehive.

Improve the skills of our staff and trainers. We are a multidisciplinary team and a course is necessary to improve internally and focus on internationalization.

Achieve the internationalization of the association by benchmarking the operation and procedures of an international NGO.

Contacts were established with the ALP entity (LOGO) to carry out training for 2 of the association’s members.

The selection criteria were the level of English. One presents a B2 and the other an experience 25 years in international projects. It is the team chosen to train and later transfer the training to the BlueBeehive team.

Our team members selected were:

CESAR CARRION ROSILLO

SABINA CARRION VALLS

SUMMARY

We flew to Vienna on 27 August 2022 from Alicante. We picked up a rental car to drive to Gratz. Everything was ready to start the next day.
On the 28th of August, we started the training, the aim of the first day was to introduce the concept of NGOs. We always had the concept of a Non-Profit Association, and the European concept of a Non-Governmental Organisation is something different.
This is a concept first used by the United Nations after the Second World War to refer to non-profit entities pursuing general interest purposes. First key concept:
Non-profit, i.e. they do not distribute profits to their members or founders. But not-for-profit does not mean loss-oriented, as they are entities that seek to be sustainable, and efficient and generate reserves that allow them to operate in the medium and long term.
The purpose of general interest is to seek the common interest of the whole society or a significant part of society, rather than the common interest of a specific small group of people.
However, NGOs are not a legal form. NGOs have two types of legal personalities, associations, and foundations. Both are created by public deed, have statutes that regulate their functioning, are registered in the relevant registers, and keep annual accounts.

Associations are non-profit entities created by the agreement of three or more natural and/or legal persons who undertake to share knowledge, means, and activities for the achievement of goals of general or specific interest.
An example to clarify this point: An alumni association is a non-profit entity that pursues objectives of special interest to a specific group of people (the alumni that compose it). It is therefore not an NGO.

On the 29th August, a visit was organised to an international NGO, Concordia (https://www.concordia.or.at/), an NGO with more than 30 years of experience and with branches all over Europe.

On 30th and 31th August, we learn how digital tools were used to improve communication in the association’s activities, mainly Visual Thinking and Group Dynamics methodologies. Feedback was obtained by learning about the appropriate use of books, contents and methods that facilitate the visual transmission of concepts.

On the 1st of September, we moved to Vienna, the other ALP venue, where we moved on to new content in the course. That day we worked on Multiple Intelligences and how to apply them in adult education.
The concept itself is curious as it mainly consists of looking at people by their abilities and thus classifying them according to which skills they are better at. Let’s say that all people are intelligent, but do not in the same skills. It is very interesting to understand this vision in order to be able to help and make people find a receptive position in training.

On the 2nd of September, we were working on a very interesting topic given the activities that we carry out in the association, inclusive leadership. We learned how we can approach the activities in order to take into account values such as equity, diversity, and inclusion. We were given material cards and books, in general documentation that allow us to visualize and facilitate, in a way to remember those concepts every time we develop content.

On 3rd September 2022, the last day of training, new concepts such as appreciative and effective communication were worked on, working on activities that allow us to detect non-verbal communication and gestures in a very simple way through observation techniques.

ASSESSMENT DURING TRAINING

At both the Gratz and Vienna sites, evaluation systems were put in place to confirm that learning had been satisfactory.
